SACRAMENTO: Senator Sam Aanestad (R-Grass Valley) issued the following statement after negotiations on a proposed water bond failed to produce an agreement during the final night of Legislative Session in Sacramento.“I am disappointed that all stakeholders could not reach an agreement to alleviate the chronic water shortage that is gripping all of California."
Californians deserve a solution that includes new water storage and a way to safely deliver needed water supplies to all water users. Conservation measures are one thing, but conservation doesn’t add a single drop of water to existing supplies. You cannot conserve your way out of a drought.
I am hopeful that continued negotiations will result in a bond measure that will lead to the construction of Sites Reservoir in my Northern California district and other identified water storage projects.”
